Young Voices New Visions Exhibition

26 May - 23 June 2024

The Young Voices New Visions exhibition is returning to the Cathedral, opening on Sunday 26 May until Sunday 23 June.

Young Voices New Visions is an annual exhibition by Severn Arts showcasing the artistic talent of children and young people from across Worcestershire. This year it includes work from 53 local schools and 6 community groups, all responding to the theme ‘The Sky Above Us and the World Beneath our Feet.’

“Children and young people have such a brilliant and unique outlook, and this exhibition is all about showcasing that. We want to encourage children and young people from all communities across the county to get involved, to be proud of their creativity, and enjoy having their artwork on display in a very prestigious building” ~ Jen Loffman, Community Producer for Severn Arts.

For this year's exhibition University of Worcester fine arts graduate Georgia Rowe has been appointed as Emerging Curator. She will work alongside exhibition curators Richard Webb and Steven Thomas to bring the exhibition to life.

“I’m delighted to be this year’s emerging curator and to be part of an exhibition that celebrates new artistic perspectives for young creatives! I'm looking forward to indulging in my own curation capabilities and to learn new skills that will help me progress in my own creative journey” ~ Georgia Rowe.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be an exciting opportunity to be involved in a free drop-in creative arts workshop for all with Sarah Edwards, Spare Room Arts, taking place on Tuesday 28 May, 10:30am-3pm in the Chapter House, Worcester Cathedral. Workshop participants will help make a giant collaborative piece of artwork that will be hung in one of the Cathedral windows. Workshop artist, Sarah, has said that this year's inspiration is the natural world because 'there is nothing more inspiring and beautiful than nature.'

The exhibition, managed by Severn Arts and funded by Worcestershire County Council, will be open to visitors from Sunday 26 May to Sunday 23 June, during normal Cathedral visiting hours (10am-5pm Monday-Saturday and 1-3pm Sundays).  Admission is free, with donations welcomed.
