Stained Glass

Worcester Cathedral has some beautiful stained glass windows. Much of the medieval glass was destroyed during the English Civil War but the Victorians did a fine job restoring the windows.

Of particular note are the Great West Window (by John Hardman Powell) which shows scenes from The Book of Genesis - The Creation of the Earth, and the Great East Window which shows scenes from Jesus's life.

Adopt a Stained Glass Window

The windows in the Cloister tell the story of England from the 9th century to the 19th century and you should be able to spot significant figures from history. You can 'adopt' a cloister window to help support the on-going conservation and running costs. For more information, please visit our Adopt a Piece of History page.
