The Cathedral is open everyday from 7.30am – 6.30pm. Schools generally arrive at 10am and leave by 2.30pm to fit in with their travelling requirements.

Any group is advised to book whether they wish to have an organised activity or not. This is to ensure that there visit is expected and that we can advise on any unsuitable dates or times e.g. if there is a large scale event on which limits access to the whole cathedral, or service times.

Due to the nature of the building there are still some parts which are still inaccessible. However the main Cathedral is fully equipped with stair lifts allowing it all to be accessed.

Yes. There are public toilets which are suitable for large groups and in the space used for the schools activities we have some more.

The Choir school is an enclosed space used by schools up to 60 in number and rooms are made available there. In addition the Chapter House a large enclosed space can be booked for big numbers. In the summer months the gardens provide a safe area to picnic, overlooking the river.
