Arrangements for Special Services in the Cathedral
As well as our regular Sunday and weekday services, and services to celebrate the seasons and festivals of the Christian Year, the Cathedral hosts many services every year for particular groups and organizations. These include services for schools and other community organizations, for parishes and other groups of visitors.†
Enquiries about arranging a special service in the Cathedral should always be made in the first instance by telephone 01905 732900, in writing to the Chapter Office, 8 College Yard, Worcester, WR1 2LA, or by email†
Your enquiry will be passed to the person in the Cathedral organization best placed to respond to it, who will contact you to discuss it further. After that discussion, you may be invited to make a formal application, and we will let you know the fees and other costs involved.† The fees charged for these services are an important part of the Cathedralís financial policy, which allows us to remain open to visitors every day of the year without charging for admission. For this reason fees are not waived, although there is a concessionary rate for schools, charitable organizations and diocesan groups.
If it is agreed to go ahead with the service, you will be asked to attend a planning meeting with a member of the Cathedral staff.
Before this stage is reached, it is important that you do not make firm plans or announce the service publicly. No one may be approached about giving a sermon or address, nor should civic representatives or guests of honour be invited, without permission from the Cathedral.†
